Dr. Paul Robinson is Founder of the Katy Institute for Sustainable Energy. Working over 38 years in commercial energy, he is an acknowledged expert in petroleum refining, especially hydroprocessing. His experience includes catalyst development, process design, operations, trouble-shooting, investment planning, hydrogen management, model-predictive control, and real-time optimization. He works with customers to identify projects that earn profit while improving safety and decreasing emissions. Dr. Robinson teaches courses on petroleum technology, industrial safety, and the science of climate change. He holds 11 patents and has authored more than 80 technical publications, which include 18 book chapters and two books. He earned BS (Honors) and MA degrees in chemistry at the University of Missouri, Columbia. After one year at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, he received a PhD in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego in 1977. He is now working on a degree in Sustainability from Harvard University.
