        MAYANK GUPTA                  President & CEO

Dr. Mayank Gupta is also the President of EmpowerE and the CEO of MEC Global. Dr. Gupta previously served as a director of the American Chemical Society-Greater Houston Section. Dr. Gupta has over 15 years of experience covering catalysis, reactor design, nanomaterials, electroplating, biomass conversion, desulfurization, CO2 capture, and pulp & paper. Dr. Gupta holds three United States patents (pending). While publishing his diverse research in various internationally-renowned journals, Dr. Gupta has also served as the PI/Co-PI on federally funded projects. Dr. Gupta received his master’s and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA. He also holds a master’s degree in paper science and engineering from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, USA. He received his bachelor’s degree in pulp and paper engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee in India.


    JAMES MCCREARY                    COO & CFO

Mr. James McCreary is an Air Quality Specialist with the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Mr. McCreary possesses over 4 years of experience in strategy and implementation as well as nanomaterial synthesis and product design. Mr. McCreary has assisted several startups with their technology design and commercialization, including Environmental Intellect’s analytical EPA emission compliance software for Shell and ExxonMobil’s major refineries. Most recently, he progressed the design and production scale-up of Magna Imperio Systems’s nanotechnology-enabled water desalination product, cutting production costs by 50% and procuring 15 vendors. Mr. McCreary also has experience with large companies, developing a customer relationship management tool for the Boeing Company which facilitated contract procurements in excess of $1MM. Mr. McCreary received his bachelor’s degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Rice University in Texas, USA.

       CHETAN ANAND                             Advisor

Mr. Chetan Anand is a Project Engineering Manager at Amec Foster Wheeler Americas Limited. Mr. Anand has over 14 years of experience covering R&D, engineering design, consultancy, and management. Mr. Anand’s recent experience includes area lead and project engineer roles for the detailed design of various oil sands facilities. He has worked with client companies such as Shell, Imperial Oil, ExxonMobil, and ConocoPhillips on projects ranging from $5MM to $8B. His experience spans the full life cycle of a project from concept to execution phases. Mr. Anand holds an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee in India and a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada.

   EASHWER KOLLATA                          Advisor

Mr. Eashwer Kollata is a Senior Design Engineer at Kateeva Inc. with over 14 years of experience in the semiconductor and alternative energy industries. He has fulfilled various critical roles in the development and design of cutting-edge equipment used in the manufacture of semiconductor devices. Many of his endeavors involved bringing up products from idea conception to the production stage. He has been a critical member of teams that built world-class reactors. Mr. Kollata has contributed to several patents in the area of Chemical Mechanical Planarization. He received his master’s degree in mechanical design engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas, USA and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee in India.

Mr. Stanley Cardoza is a Logistics & Trade Compliance professional with over 35 years of progressive experience in all facets of international trade and finance with proficiency in US Customs and Export Administration regulations. Mr. Cardoza has worked for multinational trading, Customs Brokerage, freight forwarding, shipping and oil & Gas industry that includes Imports, Exports sales and operations, export control regulations, Sanctions, Embargoes, Anti-Boycott issues, etc. He hold Masters (M-Com) degree in cost accounting from Bombay University, US-Customs License Broker and certified export compliance professional.

       PAUL ROBINSON                 Senior Consultant

Dr. Paul Robinson is Founder of the Katy Institute for Sustainable Energy. Working over 38 years in commercial energy, he is an acknowledged expert in petroleum refining, especially hydroprocessing. His experience includes catalyst development, process design, operations, trouble-shooting, investment planning, hydrogen management, model-predictive control, and real-time optimization. He works with customers to identify projects that earn profit while improving safety and decreasing emissions. Dr. Robinson teaches courses on petroleum technology, industrial safety, and the science of climate change. He holds 11 patents and has authored more than 80 technical publications, which include 18 book chapters and two books. He earned BS (Honors) and MA degrees in chemistry at the University of Missouri, Columbia. After one year at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, he received a PhD in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego in 1977. He is now working on a degree in Sustainability from Harvard University.

       GARY SCOGGIN                Senior Consultant

Mr. Gary M. Scoggin, P.E. has over 25 years’ experience in strategic environmental management and 36 years’ overall experience in the energy industry. Mr. Scoggin’s background includes management of climate change and air quality at a corporate level and creating innovative approaches to addressing the issues and risks in these arenas. He has extensive experience discussing these matters with the government officials, with industry peers, in the media and with the public. Mr. Scoggin retired from BP in 2015 as the Group Expert for GHG and Air Quality management, a role that had global and company-wide responsibilities. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University and a M.S. in Environmental Management from the University of Houston – Clear Lake as well as additional executive management training. Mr. Scoggin sits on the Executive Committee of the Houston-Galveston Regional Air Quality Planning Advisory Committee and is on the Board of Directors of several area non-profit organizations.

JACQUELINE MCKINNEY           Senior Consultant

Ms. McKinney is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a Process Engineering consultant with 32+ years of engineering knowledge and experience in the Oil Refining and Natural Gas Processing industry. Ms. McKinney has project experience in the areas of Conceptual process design, front-end engineering design, optimizing operation and reliability, and troubleshooting of petroleum product processes. Ms. McKinney has experience with ConocoPhillips, Sunoco, Amerada Hess, Mobil, Stone & Webster E&C, and other E&C clients. She also possesses a proven capability to identify, develop, and implement process and/or profit improvement business opportunities as a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.

   DANYELLE HOPSON           Senior Consultant

Ms. Danyelle Hopson is the Chief Managing Officer of Hopson Project Services a project management and facilities service consulting firm in Houston, TX.  Ms. Hopson earned her bachelors of science in chemical engineering from Prairie View A&M University and a master’s of project management from Keller Graduate School of Management. Ms. Hopson specializes in gas and chemical facilities engineering, project engineering, and utility system design. She started her career in facilities engineering in the semiconductor and solar industries. This experience also included advanced studies in water treatment and waste water system design including industrial and sanitary water treatment design. While her portfolio includes a diverse mix of industry experience facilities engineering and water treatment remain her areas of expertise. She has consulted on projects with Texas Instruments, Saudi Aramco, Chevron, Shell, and Marathon Oil. She has also designed systems that are currently in operation in South Korea, China, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, India, Canada, Colombia, and Mexico. 

  BRIAN MCINTOSH         Senior Consultant

Mr. Brian McIntosh is an Electrical Engineer and holds a Professional Engineer License with the state of Texas. He has over 18 years of experience.  His technical competencies include R&D, design engineering, controls & automation, programming, and project management. He has been a design engineer working in aerospace in support of the Space Shuttle and Space Station programs. In addition, he has led teams of engineers in the design and manufacturing of subsea control systems for deep water and land-based operations. Mr. McIntosh has served in several leadership. In these roles he was responsible for all aspects of project execution including developing proposals, scheduling, risk management and manufacturing. He studied at both The University of Texas at Austin and The University of Houston, completing a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in telecommunications. He is known for personal integrity, servant leadership, excellent presentation skills, and ability to work well across disciplines.

Mr. Jiri Zastresek is an engineering professional with over 30 years experience in research and development, manufacturing, operations, reliability, and quality system processes within the mining, oil, and gas industries working on formation evaluation tools. As Chief/Lead Engineer he led teams of engineers in developing new tools and systems for downhole applications for Boart Longyear, Baker Hughes, and NOV while providing consulting services to smaller independent service providers and startup companies. He created and published new qualifying and testing protocols for newly developed tools and led commercialization efforts. Mr. Zastresek holds three US patents with one more patent pending. Mr. Zastresek received his B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT.

Mr. Israel Pesquera is a manufacturing Plant Operations Manager and Mechanical Engineer with more than 25 years in manufacturing and engineering across multiple industries including Energy, Manufacturing and Electrical Power Control Technology. Mr. Pesquera has exceptional management skills with proven leadership in complex manufacturing start ups and product development processes. He has managed the manufacturing fabrication for Powell Inc. and served as Plant Manager for TieTek LLC’s multimillion dollar plant construction. Mr. Pesquera’s research experience includes working as an R&D Design Engineer developing subsurface oil tool designs for Camco (Schlumberger) and designing robotic fabrication systems for Advance Containment Systems, Inc. Mr. Pesquera holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston and associate degree in manufacturing engineering technology from San Jacinto Junior College.

          JAMES TRAN                                        Consultant

Mr. James Tran received his B.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Colorado State University of Fort Collins, Colorado in 2012. During his studies, Mr. Tran worked on a Biodiesel project converting beef tallow to biodiesel. He possesses 4 years experience in process design and engineering working at CDI Engineering. He helped design and engineer a surfactant plant for Solvay in Pasadena from front-end loading to start-up and commissioning. Mr. Tran has also performed extensive sizing of various API and ASME tanks and vessels and pumps as well as calculated numerous pressure safety valve parameters. He has developed P&ID and conducted plant walk-downs on various projects for clients such as Shell, Huntsman, and BASF.
